YIART is honored to officially announce our representation of Argentine artist Luciano Polverigiani. A renowned ceramic artist from Argentina, Luciano Polverigiani has over 35 years of experience in ceramic art.
Luciano enjoys telling stories by creating various characters out of clay and slip. He skillfully brings these characters into dialogue, striving for harmony and crafting scenes of interaction and connection between them. To highlight the unique material qualities of ceramics, he often uses colorful glazes and slips in his works, relying solely on the materials originally used by ancient American cultures. This approach results in a rustic yet distinctive style.
Ceramic Exploration: Movement and Fragility
Luciano’s ceramic work is characterized by the repetition of elements, seeking both plastic and poetic responses. Each gesture, shape or idea that is repeatedly captured in clay does not mean producing copies, but in repetition there is a learning process and a dialogue with the material, which in turn suggests new forms and possibilities. Play, movement and fragility are recurring themes in my works. Small playful sculptures emerge as essays, allowing me to experiment and test the ideas initially outlined. These pieces explore movement through the use of wheels or small characters that emerge from other characters.
Movement and Connection
Another series of Luciano's work addresses the concept of movement and connection through links that keep the pieces together, making it impossible to separate them without breaking them. In these works, the hardness of the stoneware is crucial to ensure durability. These playful sculptures symbolize the human impulse and the inherent fragility of the system that contains them.
