Luciano Polverigiani | Shih-Chieh Lo | Wen-Shuang Hsieh
Curated by YIART, the upcoming exhibition "Linger" in July showcases three refreshing artists from different cities with diverse creative approaches. They present their imagined worlds in unique artistic expressions, fully immersing themselves in the spaces and characters they create. These anthropomorphic figures, through self-exploration and contemplation of life, reveal rich and multi-layered inner worlds while embarking on a wondrous and captivating journey into the unknown. These characters are not merely subjects of the artists' creations but also vessels carrying their thoughts and emotions. Through distinctive visual language and artistic techniques, an engaging atmosphere is created, allowing the audience to experience the playfulness and sense of mystery embodied in the artworks.
Luciano Polverigiani, a renowned ceramic artist from Argentina, enjoys creating different characters with clay and mud to tell stories. He skillfully orchestrates dialogues and discussions among these characters, seeking balance and creating interactive scenes. To showcase the unique material properties of his ceramic works, he prefers to use colored glazes and enamels, employing only materials used by ancient civilizations in the Americas, resulting in a rustic and distinctive style. In his ongoing conceptualization and series of works, he introduces the concept of "ceramic dolls," combining two elements: material and purpose. By combining the fragility of the material with its use as a doll, he generates a unique tension that fuels his journey of exploration.
Shih-Chieh Lo is an artist who grew up in Yilan. From a young age, he sketched alongside his father, naturally embarking on the path of artistic creation. He transitioned from the world of ink to color, incorporating the unique effects of ink in his creations. His inspiration mainly stems from childhood memories and experiences, often featuring the image of a young girl in his artworks, representing his soft and tranquil side. He is also passionate about painting materials and explores techniques for making his own pigments. He enjoys the serenity and solitude of his environment, which serves as a source of inspiration, allowing him to delve into his inner world and tap into deep creative energy.
Wen-Shuang Hsieh, currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts degree in the Graduate School of Fine Arts at National Taiwan University of Arts, finds inspiration in the little moments of life. She takes great pleasure in reading books and listening to music, as these activities are deeply intertwined with her artwork and serve as a wellspring of inspiration. At times, she also draws imaginative elements from movies or places she has experienced firsthand. Painting serves as a sanctuary and companion for her soul, and she has a profound understanding of the special significance it holds for her. In her artistic works, she portrays her own thoughts and everyday observations from the perspective of an observer.
